I want to learn Argentine Spanish

Apps, tutors, private schools, or a public university — which one fits your budget, your lifestyle, and the errands you actually need Spanish for.

// what we help answer · las preguntas

The questions we help answer.

The short answer is here. The longer answer (specific to your situation) is what the call and written plan is for.

What options exist in Buenos Aires to learn Spanish?

What do they cost — free study or social groups versus paid schools? · Virtual or in person?

Four layers, roughly in price order: apps and podcasts you use alone; language exchanges and meetups; live tutoring, online or in person; and schools — the expat-oriented ones for short and medium stays, and a university program (the University of Buenos Aires runs one) for the long haul, which is often the best value.

Tutor, school, university course or an app — which fits my schedule, my budget and how long I'm staying?

Short stay: an expat-oriented school or a tutor plus one habit tool. Medium stay: a group school plus a tutor and regular conversation. Long-term: a university program for the structure, a tutor for the speaking gaps, and a routine that makes Spanish unavoidable.

How do I find a Spanish tutor who's right for me?

Start with referrals, local student groups or an online tutoring platform. Ask for a trial lesson: you want someone who teaches Argentine Spanish, gets you speaking, and works on the situations you actually face — not just a textbook. Agree on the price, schedule and cancellation policy before committing.

How do I find a translator — or someone to interpret a call?

For a call or appointment, look for an interpreter who can translate the conversation live. For official documents, check the receiving office's requirements before hiring a traductor público — a registered translator who certifies translations for official use. Send the documents for a quote and confirm the deadline and any certification steps before paying.

I can read Spanish and use an app, but freeze at the pharmacy or on a phone call. What actually helps?

Practice the situations you're getting stuck in: asking at the pharmacy, booking an appointment, calling the landlord. A tutor can rehearse those conversations with you, including fast local speech and phone calls without visual cues. Keep the app as a habit, add live speaking every week, and get help with high-stakes calls while you build confidence.

Where do I actually practice — exchanges, events, clubs?

Intercambios (language-exchange meetups) such as Mundo Lingo, an event series that meets weekly across neighborhoods, are the easy on-ramp. The better practice is anything recurring where Spanish is the default: a sports group, a dance class, a ceramics course, a coworking with an actual community.

Not the classes themselves.

We don't teach the classes, and we don't promise fluency by a date. We will tell you when the cheap option is the right one.

// add-ons · cuando querés a alguien al lado

When you want a human next to you

Add-ons to the Plan, priced separately: in-person accompaniment to appointments, one of us on a call, and the coordination we take off your hands.

  • A tutor introduction

An introduction to a Spanish tutor we've used or checked ourselves. Free — it's a referral, and you agree the rest with them.

  • A phone call with you on the line

The prepaga, the landlord, the bank: one of us gets on the call with you and translates live while you stay the one talking. Useful long before your Spanish is.

Quoted per case, on the call — some by the hour. Anything we coordinate for you is billed at a price we state in writing beforehand.
